6 yr old boy suspended from MI public school for making gun gesture w/ hand
If the student suspended for the cafeteria knife or the two boys suspended last year for a Boy Scout camping utensil set (which contained a "dangerous weapon" - the knife) weren't enough, now a SIX-year-old . . . more

Jeanne Amequohi, Mar 6, 2010, 3:03PM ESTHi Sonya! I just saw your post. Way to go and good luck! Both of my children are grown now, but I successfully home-schooled both of them from k-12, with the exception of my son, who I began teaching in the 3rd grade. I started an advocacy group in my area when the Board became too aggressive, as well as interstate mingling with other groups. Before I home-schooled them, I taught in the public school system.
I would love to catch up with home-schooling issues in the present. For instance, when I began teaching my children, our principle sent social services to my home a month BEFORE school started, because he heard I intended to pull them from school. In Kentucky, 15-20 years ago, which I'm sure you know, parents could lose their children if they tried to home-school and not dot all their ps and qs.
All for now! Good luck to you. I know you'll do great.
